What is Graphic recording?
I am a graphic recorder and information illustrator.
Graphic recording is a visual note-taking system. The recorder, or “scribe”, is situated in the room in an area visible to the participants and takes visual notes on a large (approximately 4’ x 8’) sheet of paper with markers.
Using images, colors and keywords, I am able to distill the content of the meeting real-time, which keeps the participants actively engaged. The end result is a visual representation of what went on in the session that is meaningful to the people present, a useful starting point for future sessions, and a fun informative handout that can be shared with the participants later.

Graphic Recording - In Person
This is an example of an image created during a live and in-person event “at the wall”.
The beauty and power of this technique is in the moment of the live capture of the information.
Graphic Recording - Online
These are samples of live graphic recordings done over Zoom.
It is a slightly different experience from the in person ones because the information capture is less and the “clean-up” happens afterward.
But they create wonderful artifacts for your event.
SketchNotes
These are usually done on paper and the digital image is sent to the client. They are a more budget-friendly option.
Studio Work
This includes “summary illustrations” and/or “Pre-work”, such as agendas, operating agreements and welcome signs.
It is done separately from an event in my own “studio” and can be digital or analog (paper and markers). An example of each is shown here.
Often I am working from some notes, recordings or other information provided by the client that needs to be summarized graphically.
